Dementia Friendly Communities

A Dementia Friendly Community is a grassroot, community centered group of people that aim to increase awareness of the challenges that those with dementia face. This is done by educating businesses and organization so those with dementia feel more accepted and engaged in community life.
What it looks like:

  • A high level of public awareness and understanding of dementia allowing for the greatest number of people with dementia to live a good life.

  • Where persons with dementia are enabled to live as independently as possible and to continue to be part of their community.

  • Where those with dementia are met with understanding and given support when necessary.
